What is Pop Culture?

Simplistically, Pop culture is what's popular in a given culture. It is continuously changing and yet leaves a trail or history. When the movie “Suicide Squad” was released, it marked a moment in pop culture where Harley Quinn became incredibly popular. Harley Quinn has been around for quite some time, but it was around this time she became pop culture, being accepted or approved by mass audiences. Think of how many people dressed as her for Halloween, began to use her color schemes and how she was incorporated into media. This can also include negative views or impressions such as people not liking the band Nickelback. It is the attitudes, beliefs and ideas of a given culture at a given point in time. Knowing the current and past pop cultures can help you connect and be relatable to a target generation or audience.
